Exchange 2013 to 2016 Migration

Set up the exchange 2016 service (including pools and plans) in extendasp, following the deployment guide. This will be pointing at an exchange 2016 server, and the pool items will be mailbox databases on an exchange 2016 server.

Move the mailboxes directly in exchange to the 2016 environment (this will actually happen automatically later in the the process if not done, but it is better to manage this manually). This will be to the databases in the ex2016 environment which are are set as pool items.

Use the eps tool to migrate the services for each company from exchange 2013 to exchange 2016. (The EPS tool is found in your hosting tools folder, usually installed on your ion management server using epscomponents.msi)

Once all companies are migrated, decommission your exchange 2013 servers following microsoft’s procedures (moving arbitration boxes etc).

It is advisable to start with a test company, to get a feel for the process, and iron out any snags first.
